    Georgia O’Keeffe Inspired Art

I was first shown this painting in second grade. Georgia O’Keeffe painted Deer Skull with Pedernal in 1936 with oil paints. She painted this scene many times and said this before her death. “It’s my private mountain. It belongs to me. God told me if I painted it enough, I could have it” Later on when I re discovered my love for art I used the same elements of this painting in a new way. I took this black and white photo in 2018 at a local zoo. I did this boho style digital artwork in 2018 as well. Thank you for reading -Abby (purelifephotoss)

Dandilions and Crows/ Wheatfeild of Crows

During my art history class I was introduced to the painting Wheatfield of Crows by Vincent Van Gogh. Wheatfield of Crows was painted in 1980 with oil paints. This painting was believed to be his last painting before he committed suicide. “They are endless wheatfields under a cloudy sky, and I have not hesitated to attempt to express sadness and the deepest loneliness” – Vincent Van Gogh This painting inspired this work I call “Dandelions and Crows”. I started with this picture I took of dandelions in the spring. I took a happier more modern take. And of course chose photography as a media rather than oil paint. I used…

Why I call myself a Creative Artist?

What is a creative artist? Creative is an artist. Not just a painter or musician or writer. … A creative is an individual. He is unique, someone who doesn’t quite fit into any box. Some think of creatives as iconoclasts; others see them as rebels. Why did I start calling myself a Creative artist? I love photography and creating digital art in Photoshop, but that’s not all I do creative wise. I also make simple DIY crafts, paint in watercolor and acrylic, doodle, write and if I had the materials I’m sure I would use ink. I don’t stick to one media. Yes, all of my portfolio, is done digitally…

    Photography Journal

I have been doing this for a while on Instagram. I take a photo and pair it with a quote. I would like to start from the beginnig so I will date the image, share it then put the quote underneath. *** sidenote: These are not in order. Starting at the beginning ….. April 20 2016 We see the unseen as humans. We try to make sense. Are we suppose to? April 21, 2016 The sun is the fire of the earth while the land is the ashes. April 22, 2016 Seeing the world in black and white can help us see the true colors in ourselves. May 12, 2016…

    Lessons in Polaroids

This time I will be showing some of my favorite quotes and life lessons I learned from watching the Freeform series, The Fosters . “We probably judge ourselves way harsher than anyone judges us” – Ana Gutierrez This was such a sweet mother daughter moment when Ana comforts Mariana about her current situation. I know this feeling quite well, because I am a artist. Artists tend to be extremely harsh on them selves and their work. I am guilty of saying that “my art is no good” , “their art is so much better” or “being a artist will get me no where in life”…… I never use to be…

    The Art of Self Discovery

A few weeks ago I came across the word Metanioa. It’s a Greek word meaning a transformative change of heart; especially : a spiritual conversion. Almost immediately I thought of self discovery and finding your true self. Here is the dictionary definition of Self Discovery: the act or process of achieving self-knowledge I am a self-taught artist who loves natures photography. As I improved my art, I learned that I was also discovering my self through my artwork. I believe that art tells the story of the artist behind that work. I mean why create art if you are not going to get something from that art piece.  If you…

    My Art Journey

Everyone has some backstory of how they discovered themselves…. I haven’t completely figured myself out yet, I did know I wanted to be a creative. I had everyone telling me “Art is unnecessary”, “Art isn’t a job”, Do something productive”. This is my story. The story of why I picked art, or why the art business picked me…… Well, I always enjoyed art, I was always more of a writer. I didn’t really find my love of art until tenth grade. It all stated it high school when it was time to pick out electives, I picked two, Photoshop and Illustrator. I fell in love with digital art. My earlier…
