After going through many boxes of old family photos, I learned that photography runs in the family. I loved going through them and sorting them. I thought it would be fun to recreate some of my favorites!
The photo on the left was taken by my Great Grandfather with an SLR in 1969. The quality was bad and the photo was small. The photo on the right was taken by me in 2018 with my DSLR.
This photo on the left was taken by my Great Grandfather in 1971 with an SLR camera. The photo on the right was taken by me in 2016 with a point and shoot camera.
The photo on the right was taken by my Grandfather with a Polaroid in 1986. The photo on the right was taken by me in 2019 with my DSLR.
Photography wasn’t the only thing we had in common. This is my Grandfathers dog in 2000. Turns out my dog has a twin from a different decade! His dog on the left playing in the snow and my dog playing in the snow on the right in 2019. Both my Grandfather and I loved dogs.
My Grandmother and I shared a love for cats. I will never have as many as she did but this is one of her cats in 2001 as a kitten on the left. On the right is my cat in 2017. My cat had a twin from a different decade too!
These are two of my Grandmothers cats taken on a Polaroid in the 80s on the left. My two cats on the right taken with my DSLR in 2016.
It’s fun to look back and see how things have changed throughout history. Of course the quality of the photos improved and times have changed…however somethings remain the same. I might not have known my grandparents for long or my great grandfather at all but I have their pictures. Its kind of like getting to know them. My grandparents and I share a love for animals, family and nature. My Great Grandfather, my Grandfather and I all share a love for capturing the perfect moment through a lens.
