Post Traumatic Photo Series

Each photo goes with a song from Mike Shinoda’s new album Post Traumatic. I have paired a image that I created and believe fits with the them of the song using my style of photography…..The lyrics are not mine.
Nothing Makes Sense Anymore
” My inside’s out / my left is right
My upside’s down / my black is white
I hold my breath / and close my eyes
And wait for dawn but there’s no light
Nothing makes sense anymore anymore
Nothing makes sense anymore anymore”
I flipped the image upside down and made the image into a negative.
Crossing The Line
” And they’ll tell you I don’t care anymore
And I hope you’ll know that’s a lie
‘Cause I’ve found what I have been waiting for
But to get there means crossing a line
So I’m crossing a line”
I used a photo of a deer walking away and a photo of a yellow line in the road to create a double exposure then made the image black and white.
Watching as I Fall
“They’re watching as I fall, they’re staring as I go
I gave until my soul hurt, and never told them so
They’re watching as I fall, to somewhere down below
But maybe I’m just falling, to get somewhere they won’t”
I used the same image of a deer walking away and a close up detail of rain on a glass door to create a double exposure then added a retro effect.
Running From My Shadow
“I’m running from my shadow
Running from my shadow but it’s still there chasing me down
I’ll never win the battle
Never win the battle and I should have known it by now
I used a photo of my cat sitting in the sunlight through a cracked door to get the shadow and made the photo black and white.
Ghosts
“And when the lights go down
I see things I can’t explain
Calling out my name
The lights go down
Holding every memory close
Tonight is for our ghosts
Ghosts”
I used a macro of tree branches and the moon and made the image negative then black and white.
A Place to Start
” ‘Cause I’m tired of the fear that I can’t control this
I’m tired of feeling like every next step’s hopeless
I’m tired of being scared what I build might break apart
I don’t want to know the end, all I want is a place to start
Oh, oh
I used a photo of a cross necklace with my moms bible and made the photo have a grunge look. I believe the cross symbolized faith and a good place to start after a dark time.
Hold It Together
“Oh I don’t know what else to try
Pretend I’m in control
But I’m just trying to hold my shit together
Together darling”
I used a angel necklace and a abstract photo of black and white blinds to create a double exposure.
Promises I Can’t Keep
” I had so much certaintyTil that moment I lost controlAnd I’ve tried but it never was up to meI’ve got no worse enemyThan the fear of what’s still unknownAnd the time’s come to realize there will bePromises I can’t keep”
I used a photo of a yellow flower growing through a dead pine tree and gave the photo a few different photo filters to get this look.
You can interpret these photos to have the meaning you think. That’s part of art, a artist creates while the viewer sees what they see. Every meaning is different.
Thank you for looking at my photo series!
