While at college I had a friend tell me “your art is inspired by God, you just don’t know it yet” I always took inspiration from whatever was around me. catchy song lyrics, movie catchphrases, symbols in books, latest trends/past trends. Literally anything could inspire my art. I just didn’t think God would be one of them…..
I have created religious works in the past. Still thought nothing of it.
This is one of the first ones…. later on I created a few more.
Still though nothing of…. Till one day when I was talking to that same friend. I knew I wanted to create a design with her interests. I sat there staring at a blank page until the idea appeared in my mind. As I thought more, it hit me. I knew she was a follower of God but did God really bring this idea to me? I think so. Here is the idea.
A simple doodle was done with a sharpie and a symbol of faith. Followed by simple symbols of what everyone needs in life.
Aside from all the basic living necessities life, food, water, and shelter.
God is greater than the highs and lows.
“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” – Romans 8:38-39
Did I finally come to terms that my artwork is inspired by God? I think so. I still prefer to say that my art is inspired by everyday life.
In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. And God saw that the light was good. And God separated the light from the darkness. God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, the first day. Genesis 1:1-31
God created life so….
